Montgomery Township is a township in Somerset, NJ. As of 2010, the population was approximately 22,250. Originally inhabited by the Lenni Lenape tribal groups, it was named for Colonel Richard Montgomery who fell fighting in the Battle of Quebec at the start of the American Revolution. In the last decade, the township’s population has nearly doubled, making it the fastest growing township in the county.
