Upper Freehold is a township in Monmouth County that has a population of approximately 7,000. The Township dates back to 1731 and was officially incorporated in 1798. Since its founding, farming and other agricultural uses have been the primary uses of land in the area. Its name comes from Freehold Township, which comes from the word freehold, a legal term that describes fee simple property ownership.
