Camden County is a county in New Jersey. The County’s county seat is Camden. As of the 2000 Census, Camden County was NJ’s eighth-most populous county. Camden County was formed on March 13, 1844, from portions of Gloucester County. Like many regions throughout NJ, Camden County’s name has British ties – the county was named for Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden, who was a British judge, civil libertarian, and defender of the American cause.
