Clinton is a town in Hunterdon County located on the South Branch of the Raritan River. Its population is approximately 2,750 and its total area is 1.42 square miles. The town is named in honor of DeWitt Clinton, Governor of New York and the primary impetus behind the Erie Canal, and was incorporated in 1865.
